Raising Readers: Literacy Strategies for Ages 0 to 6
Author and literacy advocate Maya Smart joined the Austin African American Book Festival for an engaging talk and signing of her book Reading for Our Lives. The interactive session equipped parents and caregivers with practical strategies to nurture early literacy from birth through age six.
Maya Payne Smart is a writer, parent educator, and literacy advocate who has served on the boards of numerous library and literacy organizations. She and her family live in Milwaukee, where she serves as affiliated faculty in educational policy and leadership in the College of Education at Marquette University.
